TESTIMONIALS (2011-2022)

I am really enjoying classes and my tutor and I
can both see (and feel) the improvements.
Thank you for everything.

Aleksandra, Year 12, English, 2022

(click the arrows to navigate between slides)

I have really appreciated learning with MSL in Year 11 and 12 because my tutor has been able to pick up on my weaknesses and help me improve. We have also done a lot of writing practice, which allows me to implement my tutor’s advice and get updated feedback about my writing each week.

Specific things I found helpful include learning about essay writing and creative writing structure, learning to implement literary and visual techniques into my critical analysis, linking my analysis to the stimulus and organising my notes for school.

(continued...)

I feel proud of how much I have learnt and improved on. Going forward, I am also motivated to continue learning, improving and reading a wider variety of books to improve.

Please don’t change anything about your current style/way of tutoring. I am really enjoying classes and my tutor and I can both see (and feel) the improvements. Thank you for everything, I really appreciate you and your help/guidance.

MSL was what I needed to succeed.
One by one, my problems started to disappear.

Stephen L, Year 12, Maths & English, 2019

How many good teachers have you come across in your lifetime?

Throughout primary school and high school, I was constantly switching tutors and feeling unsatisfied with how they taught me. Tutors would often spoon-feed me answers when I was stuck, rather than give me the chance to think on my own.

They also showed very little concern about the speed of my progress. This led me to change between many tutors until I came to MSL.

(continued...)

MSL not only cared about my studies but went beyond that and did everything they could to help with my future choices.

For example, after I graduated from Year 12, I continued to bombard my teacher with emails in the holidays asking for help in choosing my majors as I was uncertain of my future direction.

He was willing to help me in his own personal time.

(continued...)

MSL was what I needed to succeed. One by one, my problems started to disappear.

For the first time, I could understand everything I learned, which made a significant difference to my progress, and provide what markers were

looking for in exams.

English went from one of my weakest subjects to one of my strongest as MSL helped me boost my marks in Advanced English and my ATAR.

(continued...)

Ironically, my previous tutor was a high school English teacher. With MSL, I no longer needed to look for a “better” tutor.

Ultimately, a good tutor will make you realise that, no matter how inadequate and hopeless you feel when you fall behind, the fault does not lie with you but rather how you have been taught. You’ll know that the tutor is the right fit when they can break down complex tasks to make them look easy and bring you up to speed fast.

You will experience the joy of real understanding, especially when you start solving challenging questions, the type of which you deem impossible.

(continued...)

You can imagine the confidence boost I got from these achievements.

I wish there were more teachers like that in school. The way MSL taught me has not only helped with my studies but with my future and uni. In all honesty, I was lucky to have found MSL. Although I was not a model student, they helped me to achieve my ultimate goal.

I’m now studying a combined degree of Commerce and Science. MSL has trained me to stand up on my own and given me the confidence to solve any problems ahead. This is what a good tutor can do for you too.

Not only have my grades improved but I have
also been instilled with attitudes and values
that will help me for life.

Aryan, Year 11, Maths & English, 2018

(click the arrows to navigate between slides)

Two years ago, I was not performing well in English at my school. I was an average C-grade selective school student and needed help so I joined MS learning at the start of Year 9. I chose not to study maths as I was confident in maths.

However, as my school marks for maths started to drop, I decided to also join maths tutoring towards the end of Year 9.

Over the two years I spent with MS Learning, I saw that my skills, confidence and grades greatly improved.

(continued...)

Unlike other tutoring centres, MS Learning focuses on more than just marks and always aims for perfection in all areas. They want students to aim for the highest level whether it is inside or outside of school.

Although my grades improved through MS Learning, they also helped me build up skills useful for when I leave school. For example, one of the tasks I was given was to write a cover letter for a job and I was also encouraged to find a casual job to gain experience.

MS Learning not only set me up for the HSC but for life afterwards as well.

(continued...)

MS Learning also gave me skills which a school could not have given me. One of the key skills I gained was independence. Before MS Learning, I barely thought for myself and mostly relied on teacher’s notes to get myself through schoolwork.

However, once I joined MS Learning, they told me that I had to think for myself as when I left school, there won’t be anybody to help me so readily.

Throughout my two years at MS Learning, I developed skills which helped me think independently rather than relying on others.

(continued...)

Overall, MS Learning has helped me enormously over my two years studying there. Not only have my grades improved but I have also been instilled with attitudes and values that will help me for life.

I believe that these attitudes such as hard work, perfection and independence will not only help me for my future years in school but also after school.

I would recommend MS Learning to any student who is willing to work hard in order to improve his or her life. From what I have experienced, the training that MS Learning provides is better than that of any other schools or tutoring centres.

(continued...)

Other tutoring centres are exactly the same as schools where they provide you with answers in order to boost your grades. However, in MS Learning, they train you in a way that will improve your grades while also teaching you lifelong skills.

MS Learning should not be seen as only ‘school tutoring’ but rather ‘life training’.

We have delayed our plan to move to Perth
for business this year as Yahya wants
to continue learning with MSL.

Usman, Parent (Year 12), Maths/English/Business Studies, 2015

(click the arrows to navigate between slides)

Intro: Mr Usman, the objective of this interview is to gain an insight into your experience with MS Learning so that other parents will be better informed when they are looking for extra help for their children.

Q: Your son, Yahya, has been with MSL since Term 1, 2013 (Year 6) for Maths and English. Why did you get extra help for him?

A: Yahya had fallen behind in his studies and could not focus in class. He struggled in simple tasks and we became worried as parents. We had no choice but to find help for him.

(continued...)

Q: In what ways has our program helped you / your child so far?

A: The program helps us to establish a routine which we find useful and clever. We can monitor his progress every day. It helps Yahya to organise his work and continue learning after school.

It was really hard in the beginning for him to focus and finish all the tasks but now he can easily handle the workload from school and tuition. We are starting to see more improvements in his work, however he still needs to do more.

(continued...)

Q: We have seen and heard a lot of talk in the media about the benefit of homework. From your experience with us, how do you feel about homework?

A: Yahya has done too little homework for so long that he has lost interest in studies, the ability to focus and willpower to sit down and do work even for a short time.

The homework enables him to think, solve problems and improve his writing. He still struggles at times but at least we can see that he is more responsible and tries harder now.

(continued...)

Q: What do you like most about our program?

A: As parents, we told Yahya that we are lucky to have found someone who is able to help him in a such a big way. The homework is effective and requires concentration and time to think.

(continued...)

Q: What do you think makes a good tuition centre?

A: Showing tough love to make things right, like parents, is a good sign. For us, that is critical as we do not want to waste any more time and need something that works. We knew how MSL operated, through a friend, before we joined them.

(continued...)

Q: Other Comments:

A: We have delayed our plan to move to Perth for business this year as Yahya wants to continue learning with MSL. They put in extraordinary effort to teach the students which is applaudable.

I like the way they train us to think and
solve problems, how they make everything
seem so simple and logical.

Vanessa, Year 11, Maths & English, 2014

(click the arrows to navigate between slides)

I remember how I was afraid of Maths and therefore paid very little attention to it when I started with MSL two and a half years ago. I used to blame the way we were taught.

What we do in school, I suppose, is the same as everywhere else – listening to a teacher, copying down some notes from the white board and practising some examples from the text book.

Nothing wrong with that if you can comprehend 100% of it, or if you have a good teacher who has the time for every student, or if you are already miles ahead like some of the top students.

(continued...)

Every year, I used to hope for a better teacher who can help us understand and learn more.

Of course we were not so lucky and therefore little problems that you sweep under the carpet start to add up until the day your brain just goes blank when you see anything that appears challenging.

Now I am a lot more self-sufficient and confident, even if the question is a page long. I don’t have that sinking feeling as soon as I see anything challenging.

(continued...)

My Maths results are still not perfect though, as I make a lot of careless mistakes. The difference now is that I can actually say I know everything that we learned but I need to put in a lot more effort.

My challenge now is to work harder because I want to get a perfect score. I know what I have to do to achieve that. After many easy-going years, you tend to take everything lightly. You become unmotivated in life and unconcerned about the exams or results.

(continued...)

Then suddenly you are forced to face the biggest challenge of your life in Year 12. I have no choice but to try harder now.

Change is difficult. My training now is more than just about my technical skills and abilities. I need to change my attitude and the way I work. I am starting to work harder and put more effort into my work now.

Luckily, time is on my side. I still have a good chance to achieve my goal.

(continued...)

I was lucky to join MSL at the right time, through a friend. I like the way they train us to think and solve problems, how they make everything seems so simple and logical, and the amount of effort they put into training us.

Hard work and good discipline are expected for your homework, but that is good if you are serious about learning as you can learn things faster.

(continued...)

I have been with MSL long enough to understand why their training works. I think they are different, committed and difficult to measure up to. You can get a lot out of their training program if you are serious and willing to work hard.

I would definitely recommend MSL to any students who need help.

Vanessa has successfully achieved her goal of scoring a Band 6 (ie. over 90%) for Maths and has proudly accepted an early offer from UNSW to pursuit her life passion. We wish her all the best for the future.

I feel like I am building a stronger
foundation which I can build the rest of
my advanced Maths on.

Nicholas, Year 10, Maths & English, 2012

(click the arrows to navigate between slides)

I joined MS Learning in Term 1 this year. I had a shaky foundation before I started tuition.

Since then I have been working to fill in the gaps in my core skills and strengthen my Maths foundation.

This allows me to excel in what I am currently studying as well. I was getting B's for Maths, but now I am able to get A's.

(continued...)

Areas such as simultaneous equations are a lot easier for me now and I can get 100% for them easily in exams.

I feel like I am building a stronger foundation which I can build the rest of my advanced Maths on. The program has also helped me to understand mathematical concepts better.

One important lesson I have learned is that you must understand Maths in order to retain it longer.

He has become very confident and
enjoys the challenge of new topics now.

Zarlasht, Parent (Year 6), Maths & English, 2012

(click the arrows to navigate between slides)

Intro: Zarlasht, the objective of this interview is to gain an insight into your experience with MS Learning so that other parents will be better informed when they are looking for extra help for their children.

Q: Your son, Neil has been with MS Learning since Term 3, 2011 (Year 5). Why did you get extra help for Neil?

In a classroom at school, Neil's teacher has 30 students, each with different abilities, rates of learning as well as individual strengths and weaknesses.

(continued...)

That means the teacher has to plan and design lessons to fit the needs of an average student and to proceed at a rate to suit the average student.

We felt this is not right and decided to place Neil in tuition classes.

(continued...)

Q: What difference has tuition made to his Maths and English?

A: Tuition helps to improve his core skills and assists in developing confidence and knowledge in areas he had difficulties.

The extra classes assisted Neil in problem solving and summary writing skills.

(continued...)

We believe that the extra tuitions have helped build Neil's character as well as his academic abilities. He has become very confident and enjoys the challenge of new topics now.

Neil feels great when he is able to solve problems and most importantly his desire to learn has become stronger since he started his tuition lessons.

(continued...)

Q: We stress the importance of building a strong foundation. How has Neil benefited from a stronger foundation?

We are amazed at Neil's willingness to complete his Maths homework. We believe a solid Maths and English foundation is vital for each and every student's success.

Before Neil started tuition classes with MS Learning, he found Maths problems confusing and difficult which left him developing Maths anxiety. Now he enjoys his Maths homework and lessons.

(continued...)

Q: We have seen and heard a lot of talk in the media about the benefit of homework. From your experience with us, how do you feel about homework?

A: We feel homework is definitely necessary as not only does it provides the teacher an opportunity to check how much the students know, it is also a fantastic practice for Neil when he does not understand something.

Homework helps to refresh what was learned at school and tuition.

(continued...)

Q: For the benefit of parents looking for a good tutor / tuition centre, what do you think makes a good tuition centre?

A: We feel what makes a good tuition centre is one which asks for feedback and provides updates and feedback to parents and students.

This shows that the tutor is responsible and has the child's learning ability as first priority.

(continued...)

Q: Now that you have experienced group tuition, do you still have reservations about it?

A: We feel effective learning requires some level of class interaction and discussion which cannot be done on a 1-to-1 tuition.

Group tuitions offer a better and more conducive environment for a more meaningful discussion.

There's nothing more a parent could ask
for but to see their children learn valuable
skills and have encouragement in their studies.

Kit, Parent (Year 9), Maths & English, 2011

(click the arrows to navigate between slides)

Learning Maths is not easy especially when it involves problem-solving. As a parent I find it difficult to help Samantha, in Year 4, to understand and analyse a problem before even attempting to solve it.

I am really glad MS Learning is putting most of the effort in teaching the techniques to solve different problems instead of spending time to do endless number of questions for homework.

(continued...)

This training style is very different from others.

I find that MS Learning also covers each area in greater depth which helps her to understand better and attempt more difficult questions.

Similarly for English, MS Learning concentrates on Writing, which Samantha found difficult and took a long time to finish a paragraph.

(continued...)

Speaking well does not translate to easier writing. Proper training has definitely helped her to write about more complicated topics such as racism.

I have monitored Samantha's progress through one and a half years of training with MS Learning. Now she has a strong desire to study and is able to concentrate longer.

Her confidence level has also increased significantly.

(continued...)

There's nothing more a parent could ask for but to see their children learn valuable skills and have encouragement in their studies.

I'm extremely grateful to MS Learning for their efforts in helping my daughter cross her toughest hurdle.

Thank you MS Learning!

I highly recommend MS Learning to any
parents, especially if your child has fallen
behind in Maths.

Elizabeth, Parent (Year 8), Maths & English, 2011

(click the arrows to navigate between slides)

It is really a pleasant surprise to see a change in Jack in less than one Term. He is more confident in Maths which gives him the 'Can do' and 'It's easy' attitude now.

I also like the fact that the training focuses mainly on building problem solving skills which has helped him move into a higher Maths level for Year 4.

(continued...)

Jack is now in his second Term at MS Learning and continues to improve with his Maths and we have noticed an improvement in other areas resulting from his increase in confidence.

As a parent, MS Learning's intensive training has provided me with the tools to help support Jack in his Maths and gives me a sense of satisfaction that I can now help him with schooling.

I highly recommend MS Learning to any parents, especially if your child has fallen behind in Maths.
